Chana Daal | 1 cup |
Onion(payaz) chopped | ½ cup |
Green chillies (hari mirch) chopped | 2 table spoon |
Turmeric (haldi) powder | ½ tea spoon |
Red chilli (lal mirch) powder | ½ tea spoon |
Cinnamon ( dalchini) | 1” piece |
Green cardamoms (chhoti elaichi) | 2 |
Cloves (laung) | 2 |
Dried milk (khoya) | 4 table spoon |
Coconut milk (nariyel ka doodh) | 4 table spoon |
Salt (namak) | to taste |
Cream (malai) | 2 table spoon |
Clarified butter | 4 table spoon |
Method
- 1. Soak lentil in water for 4 hours.
- 2. After 4 hours add 3 cups of water, salt and turmeric in it and boil the lentil till they become soft.
- 3. Now heat clarified butter in a pan, add cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon. Stir it for 1-2 minutes.
- 4. Now add onion and fry it till they become pink in colour.
- 5. Now add red chillies stir it and add the boiled lentil.
- 6. Let it simmer and then add green chillies, dried milk and coconut milk it in.
- 7. Adjust the salt and boil it for 7-8 minutes and then put the flame off. (If it is too thick add little water).
- 8. Now put the flame off and garnish it with cream.
- 9. Serve” Shahi Dal” hot with Rice or Roti.
